How do you clean plastic containers?

Plastic containers are one of the most commonly used packaging materials, used all over the world. The high popularity of these containers is mainly due to the fact that they are available in a large number of sizes, shapes, and designs. For whatever need you may have,  there is  a plastic container for the purpose. There are special food grade containers which help in keeping food fresh and help in food storage. These containers are popular because they are affordable and can be used again and again.

However, many people complain that in spite of buying good quality containers, they are not able to reuse these containers or boxes, because they do not look good. If you buy good quality containers, they will be durable. The problem arises when you do not clean the containers properly. If you clean these plastic containers at intervals, you use the right process of cleaning, and you take good care of them, you will definitely be able to use the containers again and again.

So, what are the best ways of cleaning plastic containers, so that they can be reused? First and foremost, you need to regularly ensure that the containers are not becoming stained or do not have any marks on them. Baking Soda – This is a wonder ingredient that can help you in several ways. Baking soda is an excellent cleaning agent and can completely remove stains and marks from things. In one quart warm water, you need to dissolve at least four tablespoons of baking soda. Mix well so that the baking soda is thoroughly dissolved. You can immerse the container in this liquid or you can also use the liquid to clean the container. This will keep the container clean, durable, and will  also remove any odors.


What will you do if you find that, in spite of cleaning the container, there is a still a strong smell? This happens in many homes, where people usually throw away the containers, believing that it is no longer suitable for use.No – do not do this. You should stuff this container with some crumpled newspaper, and then securely put its lid back on. Then, when you remove the stuffed paper after two days, the odour will be absorbed by the container in the best possible way. You can again wash this container and its lid in soapy hot water. You can again wipe the container dry.
